Bio: Rowe

Well I would first like to welcome you all to this newsletter and the boards in the TERAgora group: The Editing Room and Agora. I have found that the writing family that has developed on these two boards is both warm and friendly. I am so glad to be a part of it all.

For those that don't know, my name is Rowena. I have shortened it to Rowe around the boards (amongst a variety of relatively non-creative nicks that I have picked up as well) which leads to less confusion when meeting people from online in public: something which I have been lucky enough to do on several occasions. I hail from Melbourne, Australia. I currently share my household with a plethora of creatures- including my 13 year old son Josh.

My past is rather boring but my university career (I think I am addicted to the learning part not the career part) includes degrees in Arts (Archaeology and Aboriginal Studies) and Biol Science (Genetics and Zoology). I am a Jack of all trades but most definitely a master of none. Eventually I hope to work within the museum fraternity, I currently carry out volunteer collection management work in our local museum.

My personality includes addictive tendencies. Addiction to foods, clothes and mmm… television. Well it was just television till the internet addiction kicked in. Hard to believe that less than 6 months ago I had never been into chat or posted anything other than reviews online. It is a world of people and someone is there when you need them 24 hours a day…without having to leave the comfort of your own space. What is there not to love? Especially when you add that special ingredient of fanfic to the mix.

In the last twelve months I discovered the wonderful world of fanfiction to supplement my diet of television viewing. Having found that when the shows went into hiatus or- in the case of the sad demise of Dark Angel- disappeared all together, I was left adrift with a burning need of further involvement with the characters. This need was satisfied more than adequately by the fanfiction I began to read. Like many others I made the leap from FFnet to NWP. Finally around Xmas time I found myself with a burning need to start getting some of the idea in my head down on paper too.

Fanfiction has managed to reawaken the passion for writing and reading that has been dormant inside since forever. I have moved on to writing more original works and reworking some of my earlier pieces. I love the Editing Room for getting the honest truth on my work before I post it in public. Hell I would rather be cut to shreds by people who have my best interests at heart and that I trust than be flamed by somebody else.

Well so now I have bits and pieces scattered on boards all over the place. A big shout out must go to the team at The Broken World ..this is the first place I posted my fic and the most wonderful DA fan forum board around. I have written pieces for the Crawlspace Ezine. I (as Lost in the Void) cowrite the Dark Legacy spinoff series (which is still being written even though there has been a long delay between eps) with Mel (Enigma). However, the Agora board is the place where what I have written is all house together in one neat package.

Anyway, I am kinda shy and well lurk a little bit before getting involved with stuff so for those that may see me around.. not a snob..just waiting for you to say "hi"!
